Thanks For A Great Start To
Our Summer Fundraiser!

Thanks to our community, our Summer Fundraiser Bake Sale was a smash hit! We raised over $2,000 towards our goal, and with our board match that makes $4,000! Engagement and enthusiasm from our community members is what makes everything we do at the BJC possible.

Join us in July for the next event in our summer fundraiser series, a happy hour at Dutch Courage with a specialty cocktail benefitting the BJC!

Keep an eye out in the coming months for more details on other Summer Fundraiser events including BJC Flash at Red Thorn Tattoo in August, and Karaoke at Ottobar in September. We're aiming to raise $65,000 this summer to support scholarships, residencies, and youth programs, and we can't do it without you! Whether you're attending, participating, or simply spreading the word, every bit of support helps us reach our goal. Come be part of the excitement and help keep the BJC thriving—one dazzling event at a time.

Metal Shop Feature:
Leslie Shershow

Stop by the gallery before Friday June 20 to see Survey | Surround, an exhibition by Rachel Suzanne Smith and Ling-lin Ku.

Step into a world where transformation is both visible and hidden. Survey | Surround invites viewers to explore a vibrant interplay between nature and human-made structures, where botanical and insect forms morph, camouflage, and reveal unexpected identities.

Originally from midcoast Maine, Leslie Shershow has lived all over the country pursuing her passion as an artist, jeweler, teacher, and student. She received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and her MFA from San Diego State University.

Through the use of experimental techniques, bright colors, luminescence, and iconic forms, Leslie’s work explores themes of nostalgia, longing, kitsch, memory, and the souvenir.

See more of Leslie's work and get some for yourself in our Metal Shop!
Up Next In The Gallery:
Waxcast: Creations By Earl Jones

Stop by the gallery starting June 27 to see Waxcast: Creations by Earl Jones, a retrospective of work by Baltimore's own Earl Jones.

Waxcast: Creations by Earl Jones is a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and extraordinary work of Baltimore artist, entrepreneur, and inventor Earl Jones (1951-2024). The exhibition features Jones’ jewelry, sculpture, and wall hangings, as well as images and ephemera from his multifaceted life. Waxcast explores three significant elements of Earl’s career: his early sculptural works, his casting business, and the evolution of his work as a jeweler. Well-known for his culturally specific aesthetic and his remarkable heat patinas, the exhibition showcases work from every period of Earl’s career and reflects his obsessive commitment to craftsmanship and quality. From simple copper rings to intricate castings, his dedication to perfecting his craft is ever present. Through the exhibition, viewers will gain insight into the remarkable depth and breadth of Earl’s career, as well as his contributions to the broader arts ecosystem — particularly his support for and involvement in spaces for Black creatives.

Join us for an opening reception for this exhibition from 5-8pm on June 27.

Special thanks to the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, creator of the Baker Artist Portfolios, www.BakerArtist.org, for their support of this project.
